Aloha and welcome to Fall 2021! Your library is here for you and your students. 💌
During Fall 2021, we continue to be available online and in-person.
❤️ Online
Contact us to connect with a librarian or staff member via live chat, text, phone or email. We are available to assist you remotely with scheduling study rooms and appointments, equipment loans, book paging services, and individual research consultations.
❤️ In-Person
Library Hours ~ M-Th: 10am to 4pm. Closed F, Sat, Sun.
When the library is closed, other spaces for students may be available (check with Kākoʝo Support Services for updates).
In-Person Services are available to current UH cardholders who have successfully completed all current campus entrance protocols.
Library in-person services include:
  • Computer Lab with design stations and tech support
  • A variety of comfortable seating options
  • Study rooms for individual or partner study
  • Thousands of books to browse
  • Print (color and b/w) + Scan  + Fax
  • Scavenger hunts and other opportunities for discovery
  • Makerspace with 3D printing and Podcast Studio

🎓Academic Support Services for 🍃Spring Recess

UHMC 2021 Spring Recess Update

Academic Support

Spring Break is an important time for students to receive academic support for their papers, projects, and quizzes due upon their return! Please encourage them to use these services:
Online, virtual services continue to be available:

  • TLC: Tutoring, coaching, and writing help (NEW SERVICE: online essay drop-off)
  • Library: Research, materials services, and tech tutor help. And, for those who want to enjoy a good book over Spring Recess, the library fiction section is being made available for browsing!
  • Outreach Sites: A full suite of location-based support services are available. Please contact your site for details.
  • For in-person academic support services, the Library and the Outreach Sites will be open. The TLC building will be closed.

Study Hall & Computer Labs

If students (or faculty/staff) need good wifi, air conditioning, or a break from studying at home, buildings are open across the Maui islands during Spring Recess to accommodate students.

  • Student Lounge: 9:30am to 3pm, M-TH. Drop-ins welcome.
  • Library: Regular hours 10am to 2pm, M-F. Space is limited. Book Now! to make an appointment.
  • Outreach Sites are open (Lahaina, Moloka’i, Lanai ((808) 565-7266). Please contact your home campus/site for hours and services.
  • TLC and HoĘťokahua Lab buildings will be closed.

Aloha UHMC ‘Ohana~

You might be able to relate to this – I’ve spent all summer obsessively preparing for every possible scenario I can imagine for fall 2020, and I still feel underprepared. So this is what I’m gonna be thinking as I drive to work on Monday: Don’t let “perfection be the enemy of good” (translating  Voltaire). No matter what we do, this year will be different. Let’s make this year as good for the students and our campus community as possible, and accept that that is OK.

If easy is good, please note that everything mentioned in this post can be found on the library homepage or mobile app. If you’re not an app-wielding library power user (yet), you can text library to 808-518-4080 to receive back a link to the library homepage (save the library SMS number in your phone for when you may need to text a librarian!).

We’ve been experimenting building an online booking system. So far we’re liking it!  BOOK NOW! is an automated system that should streamline and simplify the complicated business of scheduling all our seats, services, materials, and equipment.

  • BOOK NOW! to book study desks, computer lab seats, and equipment (scanner, printer, piano) in the library.
  • BOOK NOW! for library Grab & Go of books, prints, scans, and equipment outside.
  • BOOK NOW! to book laptop and other equipment loans.
  • BOOK NOW! to schedule appointments with librarians and tech tutors.Access BOOK NOW! easily from the library homepage, mobile app, QR code, or text booknow to 808-518-4080 to receive the link on your mobile phone.
  • Once we get past the first weeks of school and see how this is working, we’ll look at the changes we may need to make for September hours, services, and library building access.🦄 peace & love,
